Details

Tonia is a Clinical and Counselling Psychologist who has worked in the sleep field with adults, teens and children for 8 years. Initially she was trained in CBT-I by Dr Frank Cahill. She then worked on the REST program at Monash University, as a clinician supervised by Professor Sean Drummond. In this research project, she provided either CBT-I or Sleep hygiene programs for both couples and individuals. She then moved to working in the Monash Healthy Sleep Clinic, delivering individual CBT-I. In May 2019, Tonia travelled to the UK to complete the Southampton Sleep Training: Managing Children's sleep disorders in clinical practice.

Tonia has been practicing as a psychologist since 2005, working with adults, teens, children and their families. Prior to this she was a Registered Nurse. She has found that working in Behavioural Sleep Medicine has been a natural progression, where she can bring together her medical and her psychological experience and expertise. In 2019 she established "Talking Sleep" in Melbourne, Australia, in response to a need for specialists to help people who were struggling with insomnia. She has since employed 2 Provisional Psychologists who are also providing psychological services for people with insomnia. Tonia, Tori and Lara provide in person and Zoom Telehealth appointments for adults, teens and children.
