Nicole Moshfegh, Psy.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist in California (PSY 27405), who specializes in diagnostic assessment and psychotherapy. Dr. Moshfegh has extensive experience evaluating and treating various mental health difficulties, such as sleep, mood, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive, trauma-related, disruptive, and neurodevelopmental disorders in both adult and pediatric populations. Her expertise in the consideration of cross-cultural issues in the development of psychopathology proves invaluable to the assessment and treatment of individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. 

Dr. Moshfegh completed an APA accredited predoctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior. She completed additional training at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and the Pepperdine Community Counseling Clinics. She earned her doctoral degree in clinical psychology (Psy.D.) from Pepperdine University, a program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA). She additionally holds a Master of Arts in Psychology from Pepperdine University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Social Behavior with honors from the University of California, Irvine. She is certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I).

In addition to her private practice, Dr. Moshfegh is the lead attending psychologist with the Behavioral Wellness Center at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, where she provides training, therapy, and assessment to physicians in training. She is additionally an Adjunct Professor in the Graduate School of Education and Psychology at Pepperdine University. She previously served as an attending clinician and clinical instructor in the department of psychiatry at UCLA, where she provided training and supervision to psychology and psychiatry doctoral trainees.

Dr. Moshfegh has published and presented at conferences and workshops in the areas of sleep, multicultural competence, well-being, resilience, and major mental illness. She has led research on the development of culturally competent wellness assessments and the treatment efficacy of Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). 

 

Dr. Nicole Moshfegh (She/Her) is a clinical and health service psychologist in Los Angeles, California. She is the Founder and Director of We Rise Psychology, Inc. and the author of, “The Book of Sleep: 75 Strategies to Relieve Insomnia.”

 

Dr. Moshfegh specializes in providing culturally responsive, evidence-based care to adults and teenagers struggling with insomnia, anxiety, burnout, as well as chronic fatigue and stress. She has extensive training and experience in evidence-based therapies, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). 

 

Dr. Moshfegh completed her clinical internship and postdoctoral fellowship at the UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior and received her doctoral and master's degrees in clinical psychology from Pepperdine University. Upon graduating, she became a clinical supervisor and instructor for the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at UCLA, where she conducted research, taught courses, and provided supervision for numerous doctoral trainees. Dr. Moshfegh next helped to establish the first physician/physician-trainee wellness center at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. She is additionally an Adjunct Professor at Pepperdine University where she has taught graduate level courses on sociocultural bases of behavior.

 

Throughout her career, Dr. Moshfegh has provided treatment and coaching to thousands of diverse individuals, including leaders from various Fortune 500 companies and top healthcare institutions. She has led research on burnout, physician well-being, sleep, and sociocultural determinants of health/wellness.

 

She continues to raise public awareness on mental health issues through media engagement, appearing on various news outlets, podcasts, and magazines, and is passionate about helping people sleep better, feel better, and thrive.
