Details

I am a licensed clinical psychologist in Massachusetts and an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.

My primary interests are uncertainty, stress, and health behaviors in illness, with a focus on mind-body interventions and mechanisms. I conduct research on evidence-based and empirically-supported therapies and practices, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness meditation, and the relaxation response. Most of this work is with adults who are coping with illness (e.g., cancer) and/or seeking to change health behaviors (e.g., reduce insomnia).

I have been a staff psychologist in the MGH Department of Psychiatry since 2019. Before joining the faculty, I completed a 3-year, NIH-funded T32 Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Integrative Medicine at HMS, as well as Predoctoral and Postdoctoral Clinical Fellowships in MGH Psychiatry's Behavioral Medicine Program. In 2016, I earned my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology (health concentration) from the University of Miami. That summer, I also completed the Program in Clinical Effectiveness at the T.H. Chan Harvard School of Public Health.

I am a principal investigator of a two-phase study adapting (phase 1) and testing (phase 2) CBT-I for virtual delivery to cancer survivors, funded by an American Cancer Society institutional research grant. This project is underway. My clinical training in CBT-I has been primarily through supervised pre-doctoral and post-doctoral clinical psychology practica with adults affected by medical illness (e.g., cancer, spinal cord injury). These practica were not specific to insomnia treatment but provided opportunities to administer CBT-I as patients presented with sleep concerns. I also regularly attend lectures on insomnia treatment for CE.
