I am a psychotherapist in private practice licensed in California, Massachusetts, and New Jersey. I am also a registered telehealth provider in Florida. I can work with clients in any of these states via telehealth. I practice both long-term relational and experiential psychotherapy as well as time-limited Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I). My time-limited CBT-I work can be as short as 5 sessions or as long as 10 sessions, and on occasion, clients transition from CBT-I clients to long-term clients if there is a need and a fit.

I sought out training in CBT-I because a significant portion of my long-term clients reported chronic sleep difficulties, and I felt the need to become better equipped to assist clients with this foundational area of mental and physical health.

In addition to my CBT-I work, some of my areas of clinical focus include somatic therapy (using the Somatic Experiencing model), working with people in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields, and working with people of color and second generation individuals.

A psychotherapist in private practice in Amherst, MA, my clinical focus is on sleep disorders, anxiety and chronic pain.  I help people not only with standard protocols to improve sleep, but also ways to reduce their anxiety and feel physically relaxed. Using evidenced-based treatment, I help patients with difficulty falling asleep, maintaining sleep, or waking up too early. As well, I work with people suffering from nightmares, trouble using CPAP, shift work, unable to sleep until late at night or falling asleep too early in the evening.  Last, chronic pain is also a focus of mine, helping people to improve their lives despite coping with daily pain.

I provide services to those seeking help with their insomnia.  I have been through training with Dr. Michael Perlis at University of Pennsylvania and also did a brief individual training with him and Dr. James Findley.

In prior years I used to suffer from insomnia myself and have found the ideas and methods of CBT-I very useful in my clients' lives and also in my own life, even if they may at first seem confusing or counter intuitive.

Insomnia is a soluble problem that you and I can work together as a team to understand and fix.

Since 1992 I have been the director of the Insomnia Treatment Program at the Adelaide Institute for Sleep Health, a multidisciplinary sleep disorders clinic and clinical research institute attached to Flinders University of South Australia and the Flinders Medical Center. The program includes a sleep recording of polysomnography in the patient's home, an education session, and several face-to-face or telehealth consultations including a 3-month follow up. We use non-drug therapies or what is generally referred to as cognitive/behavior therapy for insomnia (CBTi). We employ other evidenced based tools where appropriate such as bright light therapy and recommendations of low dose melatonin for the treatment of circadian rhythm disorders or insomnias with a likely circadian component.
